10 Dec A Spontaneous Act of Kindness
An unexpected meeting with a truck driver by one of our members has led to children in North Carolina having a merrier Christmas.
This driver was headed to South Florida for a delivery, but on his way back he was picking up toys from various churches to deliver to areas affected by Hurricane Helene. The driver was just doing this on his own initiative. The picture shown here is just the beginning of donations from the family at our church (on short notice) to ensure those kids have at lease some sense of normalcy amid all of the loss they have experienced. We are so blessed to be part of such a generous and caring family—the total number of toys collected was 185.
Our “Santa Truck Driver” shared some of the pictures with us of the toy giveaway in Asheville, North Carolina this past week. Not a single toy went unclaimed—they ran out by 5 PM!
Never think that one individual with an inspiration can’t make a difference to uplift the lives of those around him…especially at a time of year when we celebrate joy and love. Just goes to show that Santa doesn’t always drive a sleigh, and all elves aren’t at Santa’s Workshop!
