4th Quarter Planning Meeting-Budget, Elder Nominations

A church planning meeting was held on Saturday, October 30. Being the final planning meeting of the year, this quarter’s meeting focused on the church budget for 2022.

Jerry Swilley began the meeting by quickly recapping accomplishments of the past quarter… but most of this meeting was focused on looking forward, not back. Generosity of our members has resulted in a slight budget increase for 2022, which will allow for increased expenditures in the areas of youth programs and minister’s salary, as well as the addition of regular support to the Florida Prison Ministry. All other existing benevolence, outreach, and mission support will be maintained at 2021 levels.

Members engaged in a lot of healthy discussion of various line-items, making this one of the longest planning meetings of the year (3 hours). Several proposals were considered, and funding for several line items was discussed and reconsidered.

In addition to the budget, Danny DeLoach announced that nominations for new elders would be solicited from the congregation during the month of November. The process for nominating, approving, and seating of new elders was discussed, with nomination forms to be made available at the next day’s (Sunday, October 31) worship service. All individuals who are nominated by at least 50% of those members returning nomination forms will be submitted to congregational vote during December, and those who obtain a majority of YES votes will be seated as elders in the new year.
